Paihia is an ideal location to visit and stay if you wish to experience the Bay of Islands and the far north. It’s the main base for tours, cruises and activities for our region. We are happy to give you advice on things to do and make bookings. You will also enjoy a range of restaurants close by to suit all budgets and preferences.
Driving Directions
If you arrive in Paihia from the South / Auckland you will arrive on the Paihia waterfront with the water on your right. Head into the centre and you will see the wharf and Maritime Building on the right hand side. Our street Bayview Road, is the next turn on the left after the wharf. On Bayview Road head straight up the hill and round a couple of bends to No 39. Up the driveway we are on the right with plenty of parking in the driveway.
If you arrive in Paihia from the North or West or from the airport in Kerikeri you arrive at the waterfront just after passing the Countdown supermarket on your left. At the waterfront turn right and keep the water on your left. Just after a sharp bend and before the main wharf you turn right into Bayview Road.
On Bayview Road head straight up the hill and round a couple of bends to No 39. Up the driveway we are on the right with plenty of parking in the driveway.
We suggest you allow 3.5 hours drive from central Auckland and about 4 hours from the airport coming North up Highway One. If you come via the West Coast – Waipoua Kauri Forest you will need about 4.5 hours driving time.
